PORTS Technology Campus
A developer campus by SB Energy / SoftBank (New Day Data Centers) in Piketon, OH, on the PJM grid. Status: under construction.
Grid and gas impact
At full buildout this campus is announced at 10,000 MW. After phasing to 2030 and weighting by build stage, the index expects about 2,400 MW running by 2030. That is about 1.5% of the PJM 2025 summer peak (160,000 MW).
At that level it would use about 15,768 GWh of electricity a year, roughly what 1,461,000 US homes use (EIA average of about 10,800 kWh per home), and add about 187.6 MMcf/d of natural gas burn on an average day, counting both on-site generation and the region's gas-fired power plants.
Its grid and gas scores tie: it draws on both the transmission grid and dedicated or on-site gas supply. Rated 4 of 4 bolts. Solid bolts mean the campus is operating or under construction.
Research note. Newsweek/Data Center Index: 8 GW. Electricchoice lists 10 GW and a separate 8 GW 'PORTS-Pike' row; treated as one project. AEP reports about 9 GW of contracted load at Piketon (Q3 2026 call); construction expected to begin Q1 2027.
